Final Blog

Today will be my final blog for the year. in this blog I'll be talking about how useful blogging was for me and also how it didn't work for me so its a 50/50. this year I was introduced to blogging. at first I knew what blogging was I just didn't know how to make one of my own. as a blogger I really liked it as i could reflect on how my week was going and also write down improvements of my own to work on, like for me not to be scared to ask for help when I get stuck on my work, and also leadership wise like participating in leadership groups. I know this because in one of my previous blogs I mention how I needed to improve on my time management as I was really busy with school and also work, however reflecting on that improved a lot in time managing. another reason why I think it was really useful for me was because it made me open up more to my pairs and also made me a better person, and a better leader. the negatives for blogging for me was that I wasn't consistently blogging every week as I always forget to, and also it was really difficult for me to do it at home as most of the time I would be out. although I strongly think that blogging is a useful way to reflect on yourself and what you could improve, and also for me as a year 12 student going on to year 13 as a leader I think that blogging would be a really useful way for all leaders to see what they can improve on academic wise and also leadership roles ah well. fair well to you all, have a safe and wonderful Christmas holiday and I'll see you next year, I wish you all every success.

My Future Program.

I apologize family and friends for not updating my blog lately, as I have been really busy with work and also my studies. Anyways my blog today will be about my experience at AUT (Auckland University). On Saturday the 25th of August, myself and some other students from Papakura High School, got the privilege to attend the My Future program held at the Auckland University, with other students from other schools. At this program it helps others to build the personalities of a great leader, as for the future they will become good leaders for their school. However on that day the university was open to the public so it was full and the atmosphere was unbelievable.

As to chosen to be one of the representatives of Papakura High School to attend this program, was a really good opportunity for me as I want to be one of the Kaitiaki for 2019. Me being at the university gave me a very good insight of what the city campus looks like and also how it feels as well. On this day I got to experience my very first time in a lecture hall and how it feels to be in one with other students that have the same passion as me.

The qualities of a leader was a very big stand out for me on the day as you know I want to be one of the future Kaitiaki. As a student I learnt the top 3 qualities of a leader, honesty and integrity, confidence, inspire others.

  1. Honesty and integrity The 34th President of United States, Dwight.D.Eisenhower once said, “The supreme quality of leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.” Honesty and integrity are two important ingredients which make a good leader. How can you expect your followers to be honest when you lack these qualities yourself? Leaders succeed when they stick to their values and core beliefs and without ethics, this will not be possible.
  2. Confidence, to be an effective leader, you should be confident enough to ensure that other follow your commands. If you are unsure about your own decisions and qualities, then your subordinates will never follow you. As a leader, you have to be oozing with confidence, show some swagger and assertiveness to gain the respect of your subordinates. This does not mean that you should be overconfident, but you should at least reflect the degree of confidence required to ensure that your followers trust you as a leader.
  3. Inspire others, probably the most difficult job for a leader is to persuade others to follow. It can only be possible if you inspire your followers by setting a good example. When the going gets tough, they look up to you and see how you react to the situation. If you handle it well, they will follow you. As a leader, should think positive and this positive approach should be visible through your actions. Stay calm under pressure and keep the motivation level up. As John Quincy Adams puts it, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” If you are successful in inspiring your subordinates, you can easily overcome any current and future challenge easily.
Being chosen to go on to this program was a really good opportunity for me to learn more about being a good leader and what it takes to be one, however it was also good for me to experience for me to feel what being at a university, as I only have one more year of school, and I want to continue studying as for the future I want to be  executive chef, so I will be continuing studying Travel and Hospitality in a verity of universities across New Zealand, like University of Otago, Auckland University and many many more. Once again I would like to apologize for not updating my blogs, for next time I need to make sure that I complete my blogs on a daily. God Bless you all family and friends, and happy fathers day to you all.

Week 4 of term 3...

I apologize family and friends as I haven't been actively posting on my blog. The reason why I haven't been posting is because I've been having problems with family. Anyway back to me, it is now the 4th week of term 3 and its been a really busy week so far. There's been assessments been done and also there's been my group project in progress.

So far the week has been going really well so far, with another day gone another day of learning passed. So in my group project that we are doing, my team and I are trying to see what is the cause of education dropouts and to see what as we students and teachers can do to prevent education dropout within Papakura High School.

As with the 1st XV Rugby session over my weekends have been productive, by helping my grandparents out and also been productive by working part time at Fonterra. By helping my grandparents out with like shopping and other house chores, I know that I'm helping my mother as she's always working trying to provide for a family of 5 and also making sure that my grandparents are wealthy.

Back to school now. I have made a really big sacrifice in school to catch up on assessments and also school work, as I am slowly falling behind. The sacrifice that I have made was I dropped out the National Rugby League team for Papakura High, to catch up with the work that has given to me. With the sacrifice that I have done, that gives me more time to work after school as well. But yeah thats my blog of the week, stay safe family and friends and God Bless you all!

Last week of the term

So as your aware that this is the last week of term 2 for 2018. Term 2 has gone really well for me, however there are some downs sides as well. As for the last week of the term, the week has bee really heck deck for myself and also my fellow pairs. For example there is a big rugby game on Friday for me, there's also assessments due at the end of this week, and also a graduation for myself and 5 other students at ATC through gateway.

For me to manage this busy week, I will have to follow a plan that I have made especially for this week. I have made a list and put the most urgent things at the top, then the less ones at the bottom of the list. Like at the top of my list will go assessment first, then the rugby game and work then last the graduation. I have put graduation last as I have already prepared myself for it last week. I have completed the assessment as I have been staying after the school and working on it. I have also been attending training for the big game on Friday. And as for work I have been turning up on time, and doing the job right.

Things that I can improve on. So right now everything is going really good as going to plan, although I really need to improve on focusing on my work more, as I get desecrated really easy then i'll be a desecration to my fellow pairs, which will effect their learning and also mine. I'm managing time really well this week, as other weeks i'll be either really early to subjects or other commitments, or just be late. I strongly think that time management is one of my strongest weaknesses, if I do not make a plan or a top priority list for the week. I can improve on my time management by 1 making a plan for the week or 2 do not get desecrated by others, and not to be a desecration to others.
